Dr. Luo Joins Lyle to Transform AI and Healthcare
ºìÌÒÓ°ÊÓ Lyle welcomes Dr. Xiao Luo as an Associate Professor of Computer Science and Electrical and Computer Engineering.
The ºìÌÒÓ°ÊÓ Lyle School of Engineering is thrilled to welcome Dr. Xiao Luo as an Associate Professor, with joint appointments in the departments of Computer Science and Electrical and Computer Engineering.
Dr. Luo joins ºìÌÒÓ°ÊÓ Lyle from Oklahoma State University, where she served as Associate Professor of Management Science and Information Systems with the Spears School of Business, leading pioneering research utilizing AI to improve healthcare accessibility and strengthen patient outcomes. Before joining the faculty, she held professorships at Indiana University - Purdue University, Indianapolis.
Dr. Luo’s work centers on harnessing the power of AI and medical data to support both clinicians and patients. In collaboration with multiple institutions, she develops AI-driven systems for personalized disease prevention, helps older adults make sense of lab results, empowers caregivers of patients with dementia, and equips paramedics with innovative solutions to deliver faster, life-saving care for children.
A visionary in human-centered artificial intelligence, Dr. Luo’s research channels AI, machine learning, and natural language processing to transform healthcare, personalize education, and optimize business processes. Her work focuses on reframing complex data into actionable insights, improving efficiency and outcomes across multiple sectors. Her research has been funded by National Institution of Health, National Science Foundation and various industrial partners.
Authoring more than 125 journal and conference publications, Dr. Luo’s innovative research has been published widely across high-impact journals and recognized with Best Paper Awards by the ACM Conference on Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, and Health Informatics (ACM BCB) and the International Conference on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI).
